GALLAGHER UPGRADES, MIGRATIONS & CARDAX FT REPLACEMENT
Running an ageing access control system – a legacy Gallagher Cardax FT, an old controller generation, or a competitor platform that’s no longer supported? DUKE Electrical Group specialise in Gallagher access control upgrades and migrations for Melbourne businesses, modernising your security with minimal disruption and, wherever possible, without ripping everything out.
Old systems are a growing risk: unsupported software, outdated cyber-security, readers that can be cloned, and no path to modern features like mobile credentials. Upgrading to current Gallagher technology restores support, hardens security and unlocks capabilities your old system simply can’t offer.
Upgrades & migrations we handle
Cardax FT to Command Centre. We migrate legacy Gallagher Cardax FT sites to the current Command Centre platform, preserving your data and history while bringing you onto supported, secure technology.
Controller & hardware upgrades. We upgrade older controllers to the Gallagher Controller 7000 and refresh readers and I/O, improving performance, security and reliability.
Competitor migrations with QuickSwitch. Gallagher’s QuickSwitch program lets many sites move from other brands while reusing existing cabling and readers, dramatically reducing the cost and disruption of switching.
Don’t wait for your old system to fail or be breached. Call DUKE Electrical Group on 1300 003 853 for a free upgrade assessment, and we’ll map out a staged, cost-effective path to modern Gallagher access control for your Melbourne site.

STAGED, LOW-DISRUPTION UPGRADES
We plan migrations in stages so your site stays secure and operational throughout. Doors are cut over in a controlled sequence, often after hours, with no period where the building is left unprotected.
REUSE WHAT YOU CAN
Through Gallagher QuickSwitch and careful planning, we reuse existing cabling and compatible hardware where possible, so you modernise the system without paying to rebuild what already works.
ADD MOBILE CREDENTIALS
An upgrade is the perfect time to move to Gallagher Mobile Connect – letting staff use their phones and digital wallet passes instead of cards, cutting card costs and making access easier to manage.
HARDEN YOUR SECURITY
Modern Gallagher hardware and software bring end-to-end encryption and current cyber-security protections, closing the vulnerabilities that make old, unsupported systems a genuine risk.
FAQ
We have a legacy Cardax FT system – can you upgrade it?
Yes. Cardax FT is Gallagher’s earlier platform, and we regularly migrate Cardax FT sites to the current Command Centre software. The migration preserves your existing data and access history while bringing you onto supported, secure, up-to-date technology.
Do we have to replace everything to upgrade?
Usually not. Through careful planning and Gallagher’s QuickSwitch program, we can often reuse existing cabling and compatible readers, upgrading the controllers and software in stages. This keeps costs and disruption down while still modernising the system.
Can you migrate us from a different brand of access control?
Yes. Gallagher’s QuickSwitch program is designed exactly for this – moving sites from competitor systems onto Gallagher while reusing much of the existing infrastructure. We assess your current setup and plan a migration that minimises rework.
Why should we upgrade an old system that still works?
An old system that still opens doors can still be a serious risk: unsupported software with no security patches, credentials that can be cloned, no audit capability, and no upgrade path. Upgrading restores manufacturer support, hardens cyber-security and unlocks modern features like mobile credentials and remote management.
Will an upgrade disrupt our operations?
We plan upgrades to avoid disruption – staging the work, cutting doors over in a controlled sequence, and carrying out the disruptive steps after hours where needed. At no point is your site left unsecured during the transition.
Can we add mobile phone access as part of an upgrade?
Yes, and an upgrade is the ideal time to do it. We can roll out Gallagher Mobile Connect so staff use their phones and Apple Wallet or Google Wallet passes instead of physical cards – reducing card costs and making access far easier to issue and revoke.
What is the Gallagher Controller 7000 and should we upgrade to it?
The Controller 7000 is Gallagher’s current-generation field controller, offering stronger performance and cyber-security than older controllers. If you’re running earlier hardware, upgrading to the C7000 improves reliability and security and keeps you on a supported platform.
