CERTIFIED KNX PROGRAMMING & ETS ENGINEERING IN MELBOURNE
The hardware is only half of a KNX system – the programming is what makes it brilliant or frustrating. DUKE Electrical Group, certified KNX Partners, provide expert KNX programming and ETS engineering for Melbourne homes and buildings, whether we installed the system or you have inherited one that needs finishing, fixing or expanding.
KNX systems are configured in ETS (Engineering Tool Software), the official KNX programming environment. Good ETS work means a logical structure of group addresses, clean documentation and thoughtful automation that behaves exactly as people expect. Sloppy programming is the number one reason KNX systems disappoint – and it is exactly what we are here to get right.
What our KNX programming covers
New system commissioning. We program devices, build scenes and automation, and commission every function so your KNX system works perfectly from handover.
Fixing and finishing. Inherited a half-finished or poorly-behaved KNX system? We diagnose it in ETS, restructure the programming and make it do what it should.
Documentation and handover. We provide the ETS project file and clear documentation, so your system is transparent and never locked to a single programmer.
Great KNX starts with great programming. Call DUKE Electrical Group on 1300 003 853 to have your KNX system commissioned, rescued or expanded by one of Melbourne’s most experienced KNX teams.
Related: KNX installation, lighting control, building control and retrofit & upgrades. We also program Clipsal C-Bus systems.
NEW COMMISSIONING
We turn a correctly-wired KNX installation into a polished, intuitive system – group addresses, scenes, logic and automation, all tested and fine-tuned.
TAKE-OVER & RESCUE
Left without your programmer, or stuck with a system that behaves oddly? We take over KNX projects, reverse-engineer and document them in ETS, and set them right.
CHANGES & EXPANSION
Renovated, re-purposed a room or added devices? We re-program and expand your KNX system cleanly, keeping the documentation up to date.
OPEN, PORTABLE PROJECTS
We always hand over your ETS project. Because KNX is an open standard, that keeps you free to have your system serviced or expanded by any competent KNX professional.
FAQ
What is ETS in KNX?
ETS (Engineering Tool Software) is the official, manufacturer-independent software used to design, program, commission and document every KNX installation. All KNX devices, from any manufacturer, are configured in ETS – which is a core reason KNX stays open and interoperable.
Why does KNX programming quality matter so much?
Because the programming decides how the whole system behaves. A well-structured ETS project gives you logical, reliable, intuitive control and is easy to expand. Poor programming causes odd behaviour, hard-to-diagnose faults and systems that are painful to change – which is the most common complaint we are called in to fix.
Can you fix or finish a KNX system someone else started?
Yes, regularly. We take over incomplete or poorly-programmed KNX systems, analyse and document them in ETS, restructure the programming and get them working the way they should. Being left without your original programmer is a common and solvable situation.
Do I get a copy of my ETS project?
Yes. We hand over your ETS project file and documentation as standard. Because KNX is an open standard, this keeps you in control – your system can be serviced or expanded by any competent KNX professional, not just us.
Can you add functions to my existing KNX system?
Yes. Whether you have renovated, added devices or want new scenes and automation, we re-program and expand your KNX system cleanly and keep the documentation current so nothing becomes a mystery later.
Do you need to visit site to program KNX?
Commissioning and testing are done on site, but with the ETS project we can prepare a great deal in advance and make many changes efficiently. We will advise what needs a site visit and what does not when you get in touch.
Is KNX programming a one-off, or ongoing?
The initial commissioning is a one-off, but homes and buildings change – renovations, new devices, new needs. We are happy to provide ongoing programming support so your KNX system keeps pace with how you use the space.
How do I arrange KNX programming?
Call DUKE Electrical Group on 1300 003 853 or contact us online. Tell us whether it is a new system, a take-over or a change, and we will scope the work and provide a clear quote.
