MELBOURNE'S CERTIFIED KNX LIGHTING CONTROL SPECIALISTS
DUKE Electrical Group, certified KNX Partners, are Melbourne’s KNX lighting control specialists. We design, install and program KNX lighting systems for homes and commercial buildings across Melbourne – giving you precise, reliable, future-proof control of every light, scene and mood from switches, touch panels, phones and automated schedules. With more than 15 years installing advanced lighting-control and automation systems, we are one of the most experienced KNX teams in the city.
KNX is the worldwide open standard for lighting and building control (ISO/IEC 14543, adopted by Standards Australia). Because it is an open standard with over 500 manufacturers and 8,000 interoperable products, KNX frees you from being locked into a single brand – and it is engineered to last for decades. As lighting-control specialists who already work daily with Clipsal C-Bus, Philips Dynalite and DALI, we bring that depth of experience to every KNX project.
What KNX lighting control gives you
Total control and scenes. Dim, group and automate every circuit, and create one-touch scenes for entertaining, movie nights, cooking or an ‘everything off’ goodbye as you leave the house.
Tunable and circadian lighting. Shift colour temperature through the day to suit your body clock, using KNX with DALI-KNX gateways for pin-sharp control of modern LED fittings.
Sensors and energy savings. Presence and daylight sensors keep lights on only when needed and dim them to harvest natural light – comfort and lower power bills at the same time.
Whether it is one stunning room or an entire home or building, DUKE Electrical Group deliver KNX lighting control that is beautifully simple to use and built to last. Call us today on 1300 003 853 to book a KNX lighting consultation with one of Melbourne’s most experienced KNX teams.

A KNX-ready home stands out and holds its value. As an open, future-proof standard, KNX reassures buyers there is no proprietary lock-in – a genuine selling point for premium developments.

Offices, retail, hospitality and public buildings use KNX lighting to cut energy costs and meet compliance, with daylight harvesting, presence detection and central scheduling across the whole site.
FAQ
What is KNX lighting control?
KNX is the worldwide open standard for lighting and building control. A KNX lighting system connects your switches, sensors and light fittings over a common bus, so you can dim, group, schedule and create scenes across the whole home or building – controlled from wall switches, touch panels, phones or automatically by presence and daylight.
How is KNX different from C-Bus or Control4?
C-Bus is Clipsal’s proprietary system and Control4 is a proprietary automation platform. KNX is an open, international standard supported by 500+ manufacturers, so you are not tied to one brand and can mix best-in-class devices. We install all of these systems and will happily advise which suits your project, budget and goals.
Can KNX do circadian and tunable-white lighting?
Yes. KNX works beautifully with tunable-white and circadian lighting, usually via DALI-KNX gateways, letting us shift colour temperature and brightness through the day to support your natural body clock and set the right mood for every space.
Will KNX save energy?
Yes. With presence detection, daylight harvesting, scheduling and precise dimming, KNX ensures lights are only on when and where they are needed, and no brighter than necessary. In commercial buildings this can significantly cut lighting energy use and help meet compliance targets.
Can I control KNX lighting from my phone?
Yes. Alongside elegant wall switches and touch panels, KNX can be controlled from your smartphone or tablet, and can integrate with voice assistants. We set up interfaces that are simple for the whole household or building’s staff to use.
Is KNX suitable for both homes and commercial buildings?
Absolutely. KNX scales from a single apartment to large commercial and public buildings. The same open standard runs a boutique home lighting design or a multi-storey office’s lighting, HVAC and blinds – which is a big part of why it is so widely specified.
How much does a KNX lighting system cost?
It depends on the number of circuits, the fittings, the interfaces and the level of automation. We understand it helps to know costs upfront, so we provide a clear written quote after understanding your project, and always check with you before any additional work. Call DUKE Electrical Group for a consultation.
Do you install KNX for existing homes, or only new builds?
Both. New builds and renovations are ideal for wired KNX, but we can also retrofit existing homes – including using KNX RF (wireless) where running new cable is impractical. See our KNX retrofit and upgrades page for details.
